On the 10th September 2017 The Guildhall Square in Southampton was alive with the sights and sounds of an old school street skateboarding competition like the city has never seen before!
We hosted the event to celebrate skateboarding and raise the awareness of the need to create and improve the facilities for skaters around our city.
We took our Don’tRain ramps to create a skatepark in the middle of Southampton at the Guildhall Square.
We did a load of free skateboarding taster sessions at the beginning before the big event to make sure that every ability got a chance to get involved and try out our ramps and then enter the beginners comp.
Thanks to Steve Bega for pushing this to make it happen and a massive wow to him for getting so many prizes from local shops/companies.
He then arranged mini skate jams for each set of prizes such as “Jimmy’s Iced Coffee’s most gangster landing” and “We’re better together” (do a trick at the same time as your friend) to win a date night together!
The day kicked off with the free skateboarding lessons for youngsters hosted by www.dontrain.co.uk to give beginners a chance to get stuck in and experience what all the fuss is about…
We ran multiple rounds of fun skateboarding challenges and contests that will encourage everyone to get involved, wow the crowds and hopefully walk away with loads of prizes!
So kick back and enjoy a small snippet of the day
